Cheese, butter, cakes, biscuits, burgers, pizzas, frankies, hmmm…. Everyone loves lip smacking food which is pleasing to the tongue. But the same food may not be pleasing to one’s health. Ever thought of consuming all natural foods?

All natural foods are foods which do not undergo any processing or manufacturing. They do not contain any sweeteners, colors, flavours etc. The most common and obvious natural foods are raw fruits and vegetables, nuts, etc. However, there is no definite criterion for identifying natural foods. In some countries, minimally processed food is also defined as natural food. Whereas, the Raw Food Movement believes cooking destroys food. Then again, a lot of people believe natural foods are foods consumed by our ancestors in its true form with very little cooking. On a general basis, natural foods are believed to be food that we eat as it is after it is harvested from earth.

A lot of food items are labeled as “all natural” in spite of being adulterated. Apparently, 90% of food items labeled as all natural contain MSG i.e. Monosodium Glutamate. Monosodium Glutamate is the most abundant naturally occurring salt. It was discovered by Mr. Kikunae Ikeda in 1908 and has been widely used for over a 100 years without any health disorder. But of late, Doctors are seeing a growing number of gluten disorders such as autoimmune diseases, digestive problems etc.

The best way to figure out if the food is completely natural or not is to read the ingredients on the packet and to question the store-keeper in case of confusions. On a global scale, labels on food packages are given by authority of FDA viz. Food and Drug Administration.

There are innumerable benefits of consuming all natural foods. To mention a few, they do not exert any pressure on the organs and are completely free of toxins. They also help to release existing toxins in the body. This kind of food is extremely beneficial to the diabetic because of its nutrient value. These eatables contain fibers that slow down the ingestion of sugar. People suffering from chronic health issues are another set of beneficiaries from natural food items.

Also, it is advisable to only have seasonal fruits and vegetables because the non-seasonal ones are low on nutritional value. Each season brings with itself a different variety of fruits and vegetables. It is common knowledge that the juiciest of fruits such as mango, water-melon etc are available during the summer season. A person shall be able to avail the benefits of eating natural foods, only if he or she practices the same dutifully. Peeling of fruits results into loss of important nutrients. Hence, it is recommended that you have them as it is.

It obviously takes a lot of time to get adjusted to a completely natural diet. Thus, a person should take his/her time to develop the palate. More and more cafes and restaurants all around the world are beginning to serve natural food. All natural foods are a great way to stay fit and healthy.
