A new puppy is a fun time for everyone. Start off right and make potty training a priority. A dog crate is one of the best tools for helping with this. They are an asset when you are at work to keep your dog out of trouble and not left free to roam the house. We left our chocolate brown lab puppy in the house to roam freely for about two hours while we went shopping and he had a really good time. I think he was in that teenage stage when toilet papering was the Friday night activity. He had taken the toilet paper from the bathroom and ran from one room to another with it in his mouth.

Choosing a dog crate that will benefit your pet the most depends upon his size. There are many different articles available to help with this subject. One thing I have neglected to go into detail on is the advantages of folding dog crates. A folding dog crate is one that folds flat and is easily stored or taken with you. They are very good for packing in the car for a trip outdoors. There are some excellent wire and soft dog crates on the market today that are folding crates. I am unaware of plastic crates that fold flat, but it is possible, and very probable that there will be.

Taking down or putting up folding dog crates is a breeze. It can be done in seconds. They are stored easily in the closet, under the bed, or anywhere else you can think of. They are very nice for packing in the car if needed at your destination. I really love the folding soft crates for taking to the mountains with my dogs. Soft crates are not designed for the dog that is still chewing up everything in sight, nor or they designed for the pets that panic when enclosed and tear at the floor and sides with their paws. Training your pet in a wire or plastic crate is essential before graduating to a soft one

Also, to clarify traveling in the car, for the actual car ride, I recommend your pet be inside a plastic dog crate. It isn't safe for your pet to roam freely inside the car, and never a good idea to put him in the bed of a pickup truck. Once you get to your destination, then the folding soft crate is a great option, especially if you have to pack things in over a short or long distance.

For a home inside your home, the folding wire dog crate is my favorite option. It provides plenty of ventilation and a secure home for your pet. On the market are many fancy crate covers, furniture tables, and bumper sets that add to its eye appeal. Check out the many folding dog crates available from the top manufacturers. With all of the options that are available you will be able to find one that is best suited to your needs.
