Perhaps the largest problem that our current societies face is the issue of stress. We see it everywhere, on the freeways, at work, at home with the kids and spouse. Then there are the medical emergencies on top of it, and all of the unexpected challenges that come at us in life. It's everywhere, and we don't just see it, we feel it. We become "short tempered" and flat out angry. Or, we lose our patience and well cry. Our bodies respond in negative ways, if we don't do something to counter balance it. We have heart attacks, strokes, ulcers, diabetes, headaches and migraines, to name just some of the adverse side effects that come from stress. We all know that exercise can counter balance and absorb the stress to some extent. It does a good job of it. Exercise burns off the stress, which is why it's so important to our health. People argue that they don't like to exercise, which really means that they haven't found something they really like to do. For example, they walk around the house, business, and errands all day long, but can't and will argue that they hate to walk. It's been proven that walking is one of the best ways to exercise that exists. But, what if you truly don't have time to exercise. What if you are having emergency after emergency in your life, what then? Are you simply "out of luck", or is there another way to handle stress? Yes, there are other ways to handle stress and not exercises alone. One of those ways is something called Mindfulness Stress Reduction.

What 'Mindfulness Stress Reduction' is and how can it help you are just two of the things you're going to learn about. Since stress isn't something that can be avoided, you need to learn out to minimize it in your life. Simply put (we have enough complications in life) to be mindful means to become aware of those things going on in your life in a non-judgemental, moment-to-moment, observational awareness way. If you think you do this already consider that you will say this event (a flat tire perhaps) is this horrible stressful thing that's happen. The reality is, it's a flat tire, change it and move on. The tire being flat is neither good or bad, it simply is. Our emotions and how we chose to respond determines if the tire being flat is bad. The tire being flat in and of itself is not bad, it simply is. Consider that if you've learned how to be relaxed, this flat tire is going to be even less stressful. The key then becomes to remain deeply relaxation, no matter what is going on. When this occurs, you will have an increased sense of insight and awareness. Yes, it can be learned. Most things can in fact it's simply wanting to or needing to that needs to be present. Another aspect of what mindfulness relaxation teaches is you how to slow down. We live busy lives, from the time we get up in the morning, to the time we go to bed, the onslaught doesn't stop. However, when you learn how to live in that inner place of peace and quiet, the power that is currently held in the chaos of our everyday lives, loses it's power. You can learn how to deal with stress with an open heart as well as an open mind . Mindfulness will not just increase your awareness and attention within yourself, but with others as well. You say that this all sounds great, but how do you do it? It is simple, but takes some practice, like most things in our lives. Start by paying calmly attention to your breathing. Then what is going on in your body, it's sensations. Follow this with awareness of your, perceptions (that is how you view things), then your emotions and then your thoughts. Most people have no clue what's going on in themselves. You have much more power and ability that you think. You just haven't learned to tap into it. Can you learn how to do mindful stress reduction. Absolutely. It will be the gift that you've ever given to yourself. Mindfulness in it's simplest for is about being completely and fully aware of your living. When this happens, you can have the clarity and wisdom that is in every moment of every day!
