When A Pet Passes

Perhaps one of the hardest things for children to understand is when a loved one dies. When a relative dies, it is hard for the little ones to understand that they are gone. When we say that "we're going to see them", the child rightly expects that we are going to go see whomever has passed away. They don't have the mental ability to understand that the person is not physically with us somewhere, but rather in the ground, and that is where they will stay. The same is true when a child's pet passes away. Many times they are a friend of the circle of life, that the pet is going to be eaten by worms (and it is), that their beloved "spot" is going to be eaten, in their view alive. They certainly don't want to say goodbye. But, what if you could tell the child that they don't have to say goodbye completely? What if you could simply tell them that "spot" is still with them, but has simply changed form? That is a real possibility with pet urns.

Pet urns, bridge the gap between when the pet dies, and when the child can come to grips and understanding about what has happened to "fluffy". Urns allow the child time to grieve. When the child gets up early in the morning, the child can still run to "spot" and talk with him. Tell her favorite dog what went on during the day at school. Or when your son has a bad nightmare, he can run into "fluffy" and tell her all about the dream, and allow fluffy to still comfort him. Or if he gets in trouble at school, when Johnny gets home he can still tell "spot" all about that as well. What these does is allow the children time to grieve and mourn at their rate and not yours. Because they don't have the ability to make it logical and be down with it in a few days or a few weeks.

When you decide to get an urn for your pet, you have also decided to invest in the mental well being of your family. Perhaps the most important and significant way to do this is by making sure that you include your pets names, the time on earth and should you chose, you can change the color of your dogs urn, to match your dog. Cats and other pets have something similar allowing for you to specialize what you need for your family.

The point is simple, why make your family suffer any more then they absolutely must at this difficult time. Give your family the time they need to say goodbye to their family pet. Because going to the other side doesn't have to mean saying goodbye.
