In these austere times when money is tight all round, it can be difficult to work out where you could possibly save some money. In the past, when you went to buy a car one of the main concerns was how the car looked and what features were included. Typically people didn't really worry about how frugal the car was to run and whether it was thirsty for petrol or diesel. Nor did we have to worry about vehicle excise duty, more commonly referred to as road tax as the rate was the same regardless of what sized engine or type of car you drove. Sadly for some, or probably better for those with an environmental conscious, those days have now gone. With the current price of petrol and other associated costs, the fuel efficiency of the car is all important.

If you're looking to buy a new car and you are also looking for something that isn't going to burn fuel then you are probably looking for something with a smaller engine, especially if you do most of your driving in and around towns or cities. Sitting in traffic and constantly stopping and starting typically causes cars to use more fuel than they do on the open road. If this describes your typical driving habits then you are probably looking for a car that fits in the super-mini bracket, such as the Vauxhall Agila.

There are a number of vehicles in the Vauxhall Agila range with various different engine sizes. The Agila is available in a 1.0 ecoFLEX, 1.2 and 1.3 CDTI variant, which makes for a pretty frugal car. It is true that the car itself is fairly small, but if you are not constantly trying to transport five people and a load of luggage then you will be fine for the most part. Sadly it is a fact that generally we tend to drive our cars alone so do not really need huge vehicles to transport ourselves in.

If you look at the fuel efficiency of the 1.0 ecoFLEX then you'll find that under extra-urban driving conditions then it is capable of achieving 67.3 MPG which is an impressive figure. Couple this with the lower insurance, vehicle excise duty, and actual cost for the vehicle and you'll find that the ecoFlex is going to be very beneficial to your bank balance long term.

Are you looking to find out more about the range from Vauxhall? Kent-based fans of the Vauxhall range can pop along to their local dealership to find out more about what is on offer.
