For those who suffer from this condition there are four ways to get rid of gout in the comfort of your own home. These do not need any medications that you may get from a doctor. Because of this you should not get any undesirable side effects from them.

Four ways to get rid of gout in the comfort of your own home;

1) Baking Soda Half a teaspoon of baking soda in a glass of water when you get up, and before going to bed, then another either one hour before or after lunch as well as dinner can be effective. You should know that the maximum is three teaspoons a day so you should pick which times of the day you are in the most discomfort. The effects will only last for a couple hours after taking the baking soda. This is by no means a cure-all, but it can give you some comfort while you work with the other methods that are a little more long-lasting, but have no immediate effect.

2) Fruits and Juices Strawberries and cherries are said to specifically lower the uric acid levels in the body. You should go with fresh whenever possible for best effect instead of prepackaged or canned varieties. Black cherry juice is also now considered very healthy because of the antioxidants it contains. These antioxidants have been proven to reduce the uric levels in your body.

3) Vitamin C In 2009 there was a study carried out by the University of California that discovered by taking an excess of 1,500 mg of vitamin C daily actually lowered the risk of getting gout by close to 40%. Then the conclusion was made that these amounts of the vitamin actually reduced the levels of uric acid in the body and helped to cure and prevent the development of gout.

4) Diet The last and probably most important of the four ways to get rid of gout in the comfort of your own home would be your diet. While it is important to lower the levels of uric acid in the body; this will not do any good if you keep eating foods with high levels of purines that will produce more uric acid in the body. Purines are commonly thought of as proteins. Below is a short list of foods that you should avoid.

-Red Meat (especially organ meats like kidneys and livers)

-Seafood (especially herring and mackerel)

-Gravy

-Beans and Lentils

-Mushrooms

-Alcohol

-Yeast
