A diet for uric acid patientsis extremely important. The levels of uric acid have been shown to be influenced by the foods we eat. For instance, meat proteins have been shown to increase the level quite a lot. Citrus fruits and berries have been shown to reduce it. The reason for this is because of the way they get broken down in our bodies. Meat proteins (as well as seafood and beans) get broken down and because they contain more protein they produce more uric acid. Dairy proteins do not get broken down the same way so they do not really influence the levels at all.

Why would you even care about a diet for uric acid patients? The answer is because the conditions that uric acid can cause are extremely painful and they take a long time to manifest. Kidney stones and gout are two of the main conditions caused by high levels of this specific acid. Both of these conditions do not happen overnight, and if you have had either of them you would know that they can be intensely painful. No one who has experienced either of these ever willingly wants to go through them again.

However, many people still think that medications can fix the problems without having to follow a diet for uric acid patients. The medicines might help reduce some of the levels and some of the pain associated with these conditions, but if you keep eating foods that produce a lot of acid in our system the medications will not be very effective. There is a good reason why your doctor suggests eliminating certain foods from your diet; because they have been proven to increase the acid levels. This acid is naturally found in our bodies anyway, but adding foods that produce more will just keep leading to more problems and pain.

If you have had kidney stones or gout; you should follow a diet for high uric acid patients because once you get them once it is more likely to have a recurring flare-up. This acid is something that just keeps building up in our bodies. The kidneys do filter some of it out, but if you just keep adding more with the foods you eat there is no way they can get rid of enough of it to prevent another flare-up. Take control over your condition and put a stop to the vicious pain cycle by eating smarter and reducing the levels of acid down to what your body can handle.
